Summer is a wonderful time to visit Bolsa Chica Wetlands in Orange County, CA. But then again, every time of year is a GOOD time! In July and August, young terns are learning to feed themselves but still noisily calling out for parental handouts. Shorebirds are migrating back through the area. Some are still in their breeding (alternate) plumage while others show interesting molt patterns. Warm summer days bring out the butterflies, and stingrays are easy to see at low tide. Come visit, look and learn what nature has to offer!
