April is a good time to see shorebirds molting from their winter grays into their bright breeding plumage. Highlights of this trip were (1) watching Ridgway's Rail forage for 20 minutes (almost 200 photos), (2) Belding's Savannah Sparrow picking tiny insects off plant (64 photos), (3) side-blotched lizards displaying, fighting, and biting (61 photos), (4) large shovelnosed guitarfish (first time photograph) and (5) large mullet jumping high out of the water (also first time photograph). What a fun trip for what at first seemed to be a "quiet" visit!
