A wonderful fall day at Bolsa Chica, with plenty of egrets (Great Egret).
From Great to Small (Snowy Egret)
From active (Reddish Egret)
to quiet pursuit (Reddish Egret)
and even a silent stalk (Green Heron)
Short-billed Dowitcher eats a worm
This Short-billed Dowitcher hasn't molted out of its breeding (alternate) plumage yet
Willet in pickleweed and saltwort
Surprise! Virginia Rail!
Virginia Rail isn't even on the Bolsa Chica bird list but definately marsh bird
Endangered Belding's Savannah Sparrow in Saltwort
Drat, this Rock Pigeon got in the way of my photo of that egret in the background!
Another surprise! Dozens of very large mullet at the footbridge and tidegate (sadly, these with fin rot).
These topsmelt hid in our shadows, and moved when we moved!
You never know what characters you will encounter at BC! (Lou Murray and Vic Leipzig)
That's the end!
