This is southeastern Virginia and not really a banana tree good growth area but as long as they are taken in during the Winter they will survive. This particular tree is three years old and doing well with its supports. The tree started its plume June 17, 2013 and the first pictures posting done here with WEB quality copies is July 1, 2013.
It is a fun plant to watch grow as it grows so quickly and results can be seen daily.
Now to protect it from the winds, hurricanes and frost so we can relish the ripened fruit some months from now.?
Click on a picture to enlarge it and for some surprising detail and once opened, scroll down and click on Original Size for a really interesting view.
Enjoy!
