This is Joddrell Bank radio telescope. Sits in the middle of the Cheshire plain.
Sneaked some pictures over the fence on my way back from Macclesfield. It
was closed, but does open to the public so expect a gallery soon!!
It's part of the University of Manchester. For many years it affectd planning decisions
across Cheshire that might interfere with its operation!

Snapped another 'big bird' from the garden today. Been out all day on the job hunt, so
the garden birds have probably eaten all the nuts!!

I really in favor for your second picture that you displayed here. I think it is the angle that makes it more attractive to me. I love your title!

Wow, you could communicate with other galaxies with that thing. Neat perspective and shot.

Have seen this in photos and from a distance but never so close. Nice crop. Glad you weren't arrested as a spy :-)

Thought you had a new Sky set up, should get plenty channels with that dish !
Johan Toll23-Mar-2005 22:20
That looks like a huuuuge telescope :) Looks like you have spring also.

It's a huge beast.
I'd heard of it naturally but never seen a photograph of it.
Thanks.

So be careful about sneaking pictures. You're too far away to visit in jail.
Zak23-Mar-2005 20:09
hmmm, I wonder if they can get Sky tv with that! ;-)
Guest 23-Mar-2005 19:54
I reckon the sole purpose of this is so that the students can get African satellite TV where, believe it or not, they get ALL 380 premiership games in their entirety shown on their sports channels... most of them live.
