Yes it's Sunday!

and I had TWO Comcast engineers at my house, as I had NO internet signal this morning and cannot live without phone and internet service, and as I have had an intermittent signal problem for over a year which had suddenly got worse, they now realise that I am not going to tolerate it any longer, and will switch servers if they do not sort out my problem. It is not just a weak signal, it goes out completely, which as anyone who uses the internet or a VOIP phone knows, is unbelievably frustrating and time consuming, not to mention annoying.
Normally when engineers, or techs as they call themselves these days, come out to my house, the signal is just fine of course, (and it had come back on again this morning after I had first called them) so I think they doubt my word or just think I am a silly female who knows nothing about computers and stuff, but I have worked hard for hours and days on the phone to Dell, Linksys, not to mention Comcast, to sort out the fault myself, spent a ton of money on a new computer, new router, new phones, new cable from the socket to the modem, replaced the modem, and endured a lot of frustration........ waited in for numerous visits from Comcast techs, anyway, today BINGO!! the signal suddenly and inexplicably dropped when they were here! yippee. NOW they would believe me!
Fortunately now that they had seen it happen for themselves, they had something to work with, so one of them went outside to monitor the signal at the green box (which is still leaning, http://www.pbase.com/image/73690670 and they don't see any need to replace it.....) and the other stayed in the house and monitored the signal at the modem and they communicated with each other by phone when one noticed a drop. It dropped at the modem but was fine at the green box, so that meant that it was getting lost somewhere between the green box and the modem! They decided to replace the splitter in the basement and see what happens, so did that, then spent a fair amount of time monitoring the signal again, and all was fine :)
Let's hope that this was the whole problem and that I do not get these issues recurring. I am mentally composing a letter to Comcast to let them know my feelings about this problem that went on far too long for me.
Sorry there is not a photo of the infamous Comcast Man Jay, the vans will have to do!

Wow. Sounds very frustrating. It's funny what you say about not being able to live w/o the internet.
At least they fixed it and it will not happen anymore, hopefully.
