Eastern Ethiopia - The Walled City of Harar

Eastern Ethiopia for me was spending time in the ancient city of Harar, city where the French poet Rimbaud lived and which has only been accessible for Westerners for a mere 150 years. I also went to the camel market in Babille, about 30 km. away from Harar.
Situated just a few hundred kilometers east of the staunchly Christian highlands, Harar, like an exotic bird, might have been blown off course - either from across the waters of the Red Sea or from the northern deserts of Muslim North Africa. This historical city is maybe Ethiopia's most undervalued destination (partially from LP)
