Volcano Tenorio National Park

Volcano Tenorio National Park is easily one of the best parks of Costa Rica. In mid-February Danny Foss, Gabby (friend of Deborah and new, "close" friend of Danny), Deborah and I made a day trip to the park, a two hour drive north of Ciudad Quesada. Rio Celeste is a breathtakingly surreal blue. This is due to some funky minerals oozing into the river upstream at the "Tinedero." We followed the main trail which wound deep into the park along the scenic river valley. Dan and I had a blast swinging on some vines, carefully checking its strength beforehand. "Laguna Celeste" or Lake Celeste was an absolutely refreshing swim. Puppy dove in after me at one point. What a strong doggy paddle! At the end of the day we soaked it up in the hotsprings and enjoyed Victoria, the Nicaraguan national beer. Between the scenic rainforest, relaxing hotsprings, magnificent waterfalls, and well-groomed trails, I can't to go back!
