Over Semana Santa (April 2005), Deb and I made a short and sweet trip to Bocas del Toro, Panama. On the way to the border town of Sixaola on the Carribean Coast, we dropped Puppy off at Deb's grandparent's home in San Jose and picked up three new passengers, Deb's brother Moses, his girlfriend Sabina and her son Denzel. We dropped them off in the Cahuita and continued the short drive to Sixaola. Sadly we left Baby in a parking lot in Sixaola, hopped in a taxi to Almirante and cruised our way to Bocas del Toro. It was a miracle we found a room that night in Bocas del Toro without reservations. After finding nearly 30 hotels with no vacancy, we got lucky with Mondo Taitu and were hooked up with the tropical suite, palms and all. Friday we saw our first international surf competition at Playa Bluff. Those waves were tubular dude!!! Those surfer dudes are nuts to plunge into such massive waves. Saturday we did an all day boat tour of the Bocas del Toro archipelago. It's been a while since I've snorkeled and it was WONDERFUL! Red Frog Beach, in my opinion, is one of the best in Central America and the froggies were an added bonus. Sunday morning we hightailed it back to San Carlos and back to the real world...ooh hum.
April 2007 - Once again Deb and I enjoyed Semana Santa in Bocas del Toro, this time celebrating our 4 year anniversary. This time we stayed at Playa Mango Resort on Isla Colon. Our neighbors, coincidentally, were Ticos (Jeff, Raul & Karla) from San Isidro del General. Together we snorkeled, sunbathed, dinned, wined and partied it up.
