My father Ralph Luka lived with his family there in the early 40's. Not sure of the building number. His father was Ralph Sr and mother Grace. Sisters were Rose and PAt.

Just wondered if anyone happened to know him.

I lived at 539 Houston Ave. in late 1940's.At that time I knew Don Sinkola and we shared some experiences when our families worked in a garden plot. Does any have any pictures of the long flight of stairs connecting 539 Houston Ave.to the upper levels of VVH? we used to wax the railing of the stairs with bread-wrapper backs which provided a fast ride on the railing down to Houston. Fond memories of my days of yore in the Valley View Homes.

II LIVED IN BUILDING # 533 (DOWn the hill) . From 1940 to 1948. THEN WE MOVED (up the hill) TO Building # 2575. I HAD A WONDERFUL LIFE THERE UNTIL I LEFT FOR THE NAVY IN 1958. ARE THERE ANY OTHER SITES THAT SHOW ANY PICTURES OF THE PROJECTS .??????? I LOVE THESE PICS JUST WISH THERE WERE MORE !!!

I lived on st.olga n starkweather i really missd the projects, it was so much fun being there and i have many memorys. rest in peace west 7th.

I USED TO LIVE ON WEST 5TH IN 1971, I WENT TO LINCOLN JR HIGH, LIVING IN THE VALLEYVIEW PROJECTS WERE NICE TIMES . I HAD SOME REALLY GOOD MEMORIES, IT SEEMED LIKE EVERYONE WAS ONE BIG HAPPY FAMILY, NOT LIKE TODAY, WE DIDN'T HAVE BREAK INS OR ANYTHING OF THE SORT, WE ALL JUST GOT ALONG, BLACKS,WHITE, SPANISH, I MISS THOSE PROJECTS AND EVEN THOUGH NEW ONES ARE TO BE BUILT THE RED BRICKS WERE SPECIAL.

I use to live in the valley view homes from 1960-1971 It was an awesome place to live I was 8 when we moved in and 19 when we moved out. It was a great neighborhood I will truly miss it.

i shot a roll of film there a few years ago. it was really terrifying. almost like a ghost town. there were a few people left in apartments, a few people moving out and a few people stealing things that could not be moved. i would have really liked to have seen the structures stay and renovated if only to see tom whitebread move into what used to be a public housing project with a wall or two knocked out and a quirky paint scheme.

Maybe now people who work and care about the neighborhood they live in will
move into the west 7th street area

I rode down west seventh to see how the site looked.there is nothing there.nuthin but dirt.it is sad to see how it is now compared to how it was 3 years ago.and when they rebuild west 7th,i bet cmha will only rebuild about half of the units.i think it is real messed up.
