Hello,

I am a Bridgeport, CT puertorriquen resident, who recently became
interested in learning to play the Sinfonia aka button box, which plays
a part in our traditional jibaro music.

I have exhausted all attempts to located someone in the area who may be
familiar with the instrument and was reaching out to your organization
in hopes that you may network me with someone who may know how to play
and teach me. If so I would greatly appreciate it. I am willing

I HAVE TO AGREE WITH HG A COUPLE COMMENTS UP THEY NEED TO MOVE ARE FESTIVAL BACK TO THE HOOD EVER SINCE THEY MOVED IT TO DOWNTOWN IT HASENT BEEN THE SAME. YOU DONT SEE MUCH LATINOS DOWN THERE AS MUCH AS YOU DID IN THE HOOD.

when is the puerto rican festival being held this year? Bring it back to the west side where it belongs!!Since they moved it to downtown it doesnt seem to be ours anymore.

I just want to say that I really feel that who ever is in charge of the puerto rican festival in Cleveland should reconsider in moving the festival back to the tremont area and the parade should be held on clark ave. The festival has not been the same since it was moved to the downtown area.

Iv been to a great number of Puerto Rican Parades. Our race already knows how to have fun. But put us all togeather and you have a REAL PARTY. PuErTo RiCo Is my heart and soul. Puerto Rican pride all the way baby!!

2001 Puerto Rican Festival this was an orgullo to go and be a part of. But for the last 2 years 2005 and 2004 whoever took over in organizing the festival is sure not doing a good job of it. These two years the festival has been a disgrace to the Puerto Rican community. First they took the festival out of the west side why? HELLO the majority of the Puerto Rican live on the west side. Second rumor has it; how true it is I don't know!that it is no longer called the Puerto Rican festival that it is called the Latin festival. Because some Mexicans complained!!! Reality check nothing against our Mexican brothers but they have there festival in Columbus, Ohio and we aren't complaining. It's like going to the Italian festival and telling them to change it to the American festival because the Americans are complaining. If this is called the Puerto Rican festival where the heck are all the puerto ricans in the parade. I mean who is organizing this is a African American or what. Again no offense to the Black community but our festival is suppose to show why it is an orgullo to be puerto rican. Come on you have the Adelphia cable company with several african american people in there vehicle. Adelphia where is the Puerto Rican or at least Latin people in Adelphia? why were they not placed in the car. This was a HUGE insult on Adelphia's part and I know I was not the only one complaining about it. Where were the puerto rican cheerleaders and our Hipanic people in higher authority. Then the booths where you buy Puerto Rican food I mean that is why it is called the Puerto Rican festival isn't it? there were more soul food booths then there were our booths. I mean the African Americans have there Million Man March you don't see us Puerto Ricans trying to change or take there day away. What about Black History Month we aren't trying to take there Holiday away. There rib cook off we are not up there selling Pinchos in a Pincho booth. Come on who ever is in charge of the P.R. festival needs to stop selling our people out. Either you are doing it for politics or money but you are killing our festival. Then you wonder why we get all wild after the festival is over and go crazy on Clark Ave. This is your own fault, I am speaking to you the director of the P.R. festival. For once think of your people and not your pocket or whatever it is your doing and fix what you have messed up. You do not see people getting crazy on Clark after El festival del Cafe do you? NO!!!! Because those people "the directors" of that festival know what they are doing and they are not sell outs. That festival you seen our people, tasted our food, & were captivated by our culture. I know one thing ANYONE that goes to the P.R. festival next year in Cleveland, Ohio is just as bad of sell out to our culture as who is handling and directing the festival itself. Whoever has messed everything up these past 2 years are a disgrace & embarrassment to the Boricua community. Everyone needs to support and embrace El festival del Cafe as our Puerto Rican festival.

I must say such a beautiful and colorful picture gallery.

I know that this gallery are photos from a couple of years ago. My question is can someone send me information regarding the location, time and date of the 2004 Puerto Rican festival in Cleveland-this summer? If one is even being held.....


Currently I'm in the process of moving to Lorain, Ohio (from another state). So if anyone can give me information on events in either that area (which I heard has a large population of boricuas) or Cleveland ......I would greatly appreciate it.
