President James Garfield is shot by Charles Guiteau at Washington's train station. Guiteau was a demented gov't worker who expected a lucrative job when Garfield was elected. He said he believed in *Bible-Communism* and worked for *Jesus & Company*. Guiteau decided to kill the President then ask the Vice President Chester Arthur for a job. He shot the President in the back, dropped his gun and announced: I am the last Stalwart. Arthur is now President!
