Squires Castle - October 17, 2001

Squires Castle was built in 1890 for Clevelands John D. Rockefeller. The 450 acre estate is now part of Clevelands Metroparks.

I use to remember back in the 70's coming to the park and would see a hippie chick drawing the castle in charcoal while she would sit in the feild.I always said 'one day I'll have my dream wedding on the side balconey. Now in. 2010, Im 44 and soon will merry the love of my life. So never stop dreaming, and always remember your fantasies, cause there never out of reach! Janet

i am looking for an amazing fairytail wedding. i heard of this...did some research...an looked up some photos...and i think im in love! i almost dont know what i could have a wedding any other place! :) i was wondering how to get a hold of thhis park to reserve the "castle" and if there are any costs. concearned about ppl goin in and out. i appreciate your help :)

I am getting married there 9.20.08!! If you call the Metroparks business office on fulton they will tell you if it is available.

I used to LOVE going there as a child........walking the paths and just thinking that you might run in to a knight or a ghost!!!! Just took my daughter there for the first time and she like it too!!!

When I was little I can recall going on family picnics there. Now I have 3 children and we are planning a picnic there for the holiday weekend. I can't wait to see there faces when the see the awe inspiring castle that left me with so many happy memories !!! Shelley

I always dreamed of having a some what fairy tail kind of wedding and when I moved into the Cleveland area and heard of squires castle I knew this would be the place. Danny and I are getting married here on April 21,2007. We can't wait!!!!!!!

I grew up in willoughby hills, and remeber going to the castle many times when i was a child and loved it, i now live in warren, ohio, And me and my husband and daughters are taking a trip to see the castle i cant wait, it will bring back memories.

I am getting married here on June 23 2007. I was with my father when I was younger and said to him "daddy take me to a castle" and when I woke up we were at squires castle. I have lots of memories there and I can't wait to be married there.

This is my favorite place to hang out in the summer.It is beautiful in all seasons.I hope to one day have my wedding there. I know Tim would love it too.

I also moved away from Cleveland to Arizona back in the 80's & this is the 1st time I have seen the Castle since -even if it is only in pictures! What wonderful memories I have of this place. - Thanks for the beautiful reminder!!!

This web site brings back old memories. Back in the early 1950's I had a girlfriend I thought would some day become my wife, to Squires Castle. There was something about it--and probably still is--that was romantic. I never was lucky enough to marry that girl, but I treasured the memories of visits to Squires Castle.---Richard.

Oh the times here at squres castle. Getting lost in the woods, jumping around and playing in the castle. driving by at night to see if the stories are ture, Which they are not. I will be back to squires castle. Only next time to get married.

I moved from Ohio to Arizona fall of 1983. I have been back several times of course and actually would love to move back some day. This was by far my favorite park. The wooded hiking trails were the best. I have a lot of fond memories. Cleveland Metro Parks are awsome.

I have a painting of Squire's Castle. It is oil on canvas and is in a mahogany frame. I am not sure of its age but is very old. I am thinking of putting it on E Bay. Any one interested in seeing the painting contact me.

My brother-in-law, our best friend and myself stopped at Squire's Castle after visiting the Great Lakes Medieval festival. We had our costumes on and had a couple of friends take our pictures. The crowd that gathered was delighted! Two knights and a Wizard doing a mock battle just sent the kids into a tizzy! lol It was fun. I'll never forget that time!

I took my husband to the castle today and had a wonderful time walking thru the castle. I even pointed out the place where we wrote on the ceiling years ago. It's still such a beautiful place to sit and remember the fun times my family and friends spent there.

I grew up in Richmond Heights and had been to Squires many times as a child. I now live in Indiana and have taken my children and now my grandsons to picnic there.

I have also seen your 185th Street Festival pics. My father owned the LaSalle Tavern on 185th Street back in the 60's, and the Waterloo Winery which was about a mile from the old Collinwood School. My grandparents lived on laSalle Drive. You brought back many good memories of that area. Thanks for the great shots.

Awesome. I used to go to the castle all the time, but I had to move out of the area a little while ago. You should see the place in the winter.

THESE PICTURES BROUGHT BACK WONDERFUL, HAPPY MOMORIES FOR ME. OUR FAMILY CAME HERE MANY TIMES FOR PICNICS IN THE 1960'S. WE HAD SUCH A WONDERFUL TIMES ON THE HIKING TRAILS. IT WAS ALWAYS WAS AND STILL IS A BEAUTIFUL PLACE. THANKS FOR POSTING THESE PICTURES.
