The flat land in the foreground was where the state originally planted a large stand of Live Oak trees. Three or four years ago the stand of oaks was relocated to the rocky embankment to the west where half the trees promptly died due to lack of water during the dry season. The building in the background is the Miami-Dade County Store where surplus office equipment and tools are sold to the public. The fence was damaged by Hurricane Wilma on October 24th.
