"DE-Birders:
With all the reports streaming in today of Tundra Swans on the move, I wanted to share the intriguing news that the female Trumpeter Swan has returned to the same location in Chadds Ford (Pennsylvania) where she was last observed on January 22-- exactly one month ago today!
After being frozen solid for the past month, the wetland has thawed enough around the edges to attract flocks of feeding geese and the swan once again.
The exposed emergent grasses are a prime food source for these birds.
The big question is: where did this swan spend the past month?
Perhaps some lucky observers saw her elsewhere and reported her wing tag to the bird banding lab.
The story continues...
Good birding,
