Potosi, silver city of Spanish America

Potosi, at 4,060 metres one of the world's highest cities, was founded by Spanish conquistadors in 1545 and soon became the largest and wealthiest city in the Americas. Mining continues today on a reduced scale, often in horrific working conditions.

As with my other 2016 Bolivian & Chilean galleries, many of these images were captured on a Samsung Galaxy smartphone. Other images were taken with Nikon D300 using RAW format, and may be licensed.
