Northern Mongolia

Images from a 4-day road journey following the Trans Mongolian Railway north from Ulaanbaatar, the capital, then swinging west through the mining town of Erdenet and off the paved roads to reach the 18th-century Buddhist monastery, Amarbayasgalant Khiid, built in Manchu Dynasty style. Continuing west from the monastery we reach Lake Khövsgöl, Mongolia's largest and a worthy little sister to Siberia's vast Lake Baikal.
