Lötschental Valley, Valais / Wallis

Our July 2018 home exchange saw us settle into a family-owned and restored 16th-century chalet in a relatively remote Swiss alpine valley, the Lötschental in the southern canton of Valais (or Wallis). Our host property is also available to rent (website in French). The valley and surrounding mountains lie within a UNESCO World Heritage site. Even in midsummer, snow-streaked granite peaks and glaciers frame the valley and overlook four villages which retain much of their cultural heritage including traditional farmhouse architecture and pre-Christian carnival rituals.

These images were taken with Nikon D300 using RAW format, and are available for licensing.
