The Kaikoura Canyon is a submarine canyon located around 800 metres off the Kaikoura Coast of the northern South Island. Rich in nutrients from the depths of the ocean, it forms a focus for marine life stretching over 60 kilometres and reaching depths of up to 1200+ metres.
