The Bodensee, or Lake Constance

The Bodensee is a vast lake, virtually an inland sea, whose waters lap the shores of three countries. At its southeastern extremity the picturesque German town of Lindau, huddled onto an island reached by causeway, gave us a homely base for several days. Bregenz, Austria, lay within a few kilometres, with Swiss territory to the west.
