Berlin, 2014

A few days in Berlin, a city reunited since my first visit so many years earlier. Back then, the journey entailed tense transits of the DDR (East Germany), submitting to the scrutiny of Communist border police. Now, relatively little tangible evidence remains of the Berlin Wall following the collapse of the Soviet-sponsored regime in 1989. However, the new Berlin can still appear to be a work in progress, with the Under den Linden torn up for subway extensions during our visit.

This gallery now includes images from our 2015 visit, where these relate to the same sights and experiences.
