Images from the Black Sea port city of Batumi - and from the journey there and back across Georgia.
Batumi, in the late 19th century a prosperous port and fashionable resort at the southern extremity of the Russian Empire, slipped into oblivion during the Soviet years, but has now reinvented itself as a holiday destination and - incidentally - as a showcase of modern architecture alongside the original Belle Epoque. Visitors travel from as far east as Iran. The Turkish border lies close by and that country's influence is palpable.
These images were taken with Nikon D300 using RAW format, and are available for licensing.
