The CB&Q depot at Buda IL. will soon be raised. With the elimination of the signal maintainer position at Buda and the general condition of the building, it is cost prohibitive to keep it. I look for it to be gone this year (07). Goodbye old friend!

Hi Bill.
My 92 year old mom grew up in Buda and remembers the train station as being red in the 1920's and 1930's. My brother has asked me to paint a picture of the station with a Zephyr breezing through. We were looking through old family photos and online to get a sense of an area we visiting many times, but also many years ago. He discovered yours site. I wonder if you will give me permission to use this photo for reference for the painting? It wouldn't be a direct copy. We both want the painting to be circa 1940 in feel. For example, the grain elevators weren't originally at that location. I did a very quick sketch, which my mom saw before I showed her your photograph. She exclaimed, "Oh! That's were Grandpa had his filling station!," pointing to just off the edge of my sketch.

Thanks so much for this wonderful gallery of photos. Any train lover would be thrilled to look them over and over!

I grew up going into that depot all the time as my dad was the signal maintainer there. It brings back all kinds of wonderful memories for me.
