The C&NW line the train is running on was abandoned through Sycamore on December 8th, 1942, while the line from Sycamore to Cortland was abandoned on November 14th, 1936.

I would argue the date of this photo. The autos appear to be around 1910 vintage and the clothing worn would fit that same period. The depot was built about 1881 by the Sycamore & Cortland RR, which was taken over by the C&NW. Thanks for providing this photo.
