Galena, Illinois Depots, turn of the Century

Galena, Illinois

The Chicago & North Western Depot(left) sits across from the Illinois Central Depot(right) in Galena, Illinois.
Today the IC depot is a Visitors Center and the C&NW depot site is an empty gravel lot.
The C&NW section of rail line between Benton and Galena ceased operation in 1938.
The IC line is still used by the Canadian National Railroad.

This image is From Ebay, but I do own the Postcard now, so it's not really stolen because it's a scan of the Postcard that I won.
