All shots were taken from exactly the same point. It was cold and windy and the light was harsh so I could not see the viewfinder to review pics. May need to re-test, but here is the initial result. Weird. G9 beats Canon 5d with professional lens? Was the pro lens not properly focussed 'both times' (wide and zoom setting).

Note all 'crop' images are 100 percent crop.
