In all honesty there was very little which really jumped at me when I read through this year’s line up. My one “must see” was Jerry Dammers and the Spatial aka Orchestra, although I was also very keen to see whether Faithless would be able to replicate their immense Pyramid show in 2002. Neither disappointed.
Other standout performances came from the ridiculously talented Beardyman on the amazing new Arcadia rig and also Empire of the Sun, who Lucy insisted we tore ourselves away from Stevie Wonder and ran up to The Park for. They turned out to be the cherry on the icing.
And then of course there were the two nutters in Arcadia who stood on top of tesla coils and flung lightning bolts at one another. I’ve never seen anything quite like it!
We didn’t go anywhere near the Pyramid Stage until the Sunday and I’m afraid I was too far from the stage to get any decent photos of Paloma Faith. The same goes for MGMT’s performance on the Other Stage. But apart from Dreadzone in the very dark Rabbit Hole this is pretty close to a complete record of everything else I saw during 5 days of wandering around the site.
