And so with the 2007 festival tour almost at an end we’re right back where we started at Knockengorroch Farm for another magical weekend in the Galloway Hills. The setup is pretty familiar now. The fast track entry system seemed to involve simply moving the portacabin to the other side of the bridge but I didn’t hear of any major delays this time so it must have worked.
My initial disappointment over the fact that the usual Kelpie seaweed ale was not available on draught instantly disappeared when I tried the 6.5% Ebulum Elderberry Stout which replaced it. To be honest I became a little too heavily attached to it judging by the fuzzy head I had on the Saturday morning.
As always the weather was mixed with beautiful starry skies & ground frosts at night plus a lengthy spell of rain on Sunday morning which saw the river turn into a snarling brown monster, adding to the awe & majesty of the place.
Musically we had some real gems this time. Nizlopi showed that they are far more talented than their 1-hit wonder status would indicate. The Herbaliser and Bombskare were both exceptional on the main stage and although I missed Black Cat’s lunchtime slot there I was very impressed with their performance on the small bar stage.
I have to say that the haul of photos I have this time aren’t quite as extensive or up to the usual standard. You’ll have to excuse me but my interests lay elsewhere for a considerable chunk of the festival. To the person concerned - You know who you are & Thankyou!
