We missed last year’s Endorse It and the previous year’s event was marred somewhat by some pretty inclement weather, over the top security and anti-social neighbours, so it was lovely to be able to meet up with so many old friends at a festival which is definitely right back on top form.
The main change since our last visit is that the main outdoor stage has disappeared completely. The Desmond Dekker Stage has instead seen a major increase in size to cope with crowds wanting to see bands of the magnitude of Saturday night headliners The Damned. The space that was previously taken by the main stage has instead been given over to Strummerville, who are making appearances all over the country these days. They had their usual comfy sofas around a blazing campfire as well as running a small outdoor stage of their own.
There are two main bars nowadays serving a great selections of beers and ciders. The Bus Bar has a good sized stage for live bands while the other bar doubled up as a dance tent, housing it up into the early hours. Further late night entertainment could be found at our old favourite, the Wig-On Casino, which has moved to a new spot and also another small dance area for the youngsters where my 17 year old son felt old. A new “Pixie Chill” area offered massages and there was still plenty for the kids to do next door.
The variety of food available seemed to have improved again since we were last here and on the whole the toilets were very good. The only exception seemed to be those in the campervan field but it was never far to walk for much cleaner ones. So all in all a fantastic weekend and apart from a small amount of drizzle the weather was kind and Ladies Day on Scrumpy Sunday turned out to be a scorcher.
