| European mid lane legend Fabian “Febiven” Diepstraten — of Fnatic fame — has decided to hang his mouse and keyboard and call it a career. This seasoned veteran has been through it all and has garnered worldwide attention for his immaculate play and ability to perform at the highest of levels. He first came to prominence back in 2015 when he was brought in as a part of a rejuvenated Fnatic line-up — the one that truly put European League of Legends “on the map.” Those who believed in their chances were few in number and, frankly, there was a good reason why. It was a roster filled with uncertainty and more than just a couple of inexperienced “no-name” players — individuals who paled in comparison to the giants they were signed on to replace. Fortunately, everyone’s fears were unfounded, as this particular Fnatic line-up dominated beyond measure. Under Luis “Deilor” Sevilla Petit’s guidance, they quickly ascended the LEC throne and the rest, as they say, is history. At the first-ever Mid-Season Invitational back in 2015, Febiven played some of his best LoL yet and quickly became known as the “Boy Who Killed Faker” — the result of his incredible play and two solo kills over the best and most accomplished League of Legends player of all time. Soon enough, though, the line-up had disbanded, with Heo “Huni” Seung-hoon and Kim “Reignover” Yeu-jin moving across the Atlantic to compete in North America — a lucrative decision, no doubt, albeit still a wholly disappointing one. Fnatic never recovered, but it wasn’t for a lack of trying. It was only a couple of years before Febiven realized it was time for a change; thus he had decided to sign for Clutch Gaming and try out his luck in North America. It was a relatively solid stint, but it, unfortunately, didn’t yield anything worthy of mentioning. As a result, he had moved back to Europe and competed for Misfits and Fnatic Rising 안전놀이터 before calling it a career mere days ago. A Legend In Every Sense of the Word Febiven’s peak, unfortunately, didn’t last all that long. He faded rather quickly, and while his play continued to be rather stellar (if not exceptional, at times), it was still a far cry from his golden days. Frequent bouts with motivation left their mark, and Febiven never quite reclaimed his drive to compete — and even when he did he lacked the right teammates to truly make a run for the title. Regardless, Febiven is still amongst the most revered and successful mid laners in Europe’s history — he’s LEC royalty. The highs he had had, the plays he had made — against the very best players in the world, no less — left no one indifferent. We’re honored to have witnessed such an incredible player rise and make a name for himself and we hope he’ll find as much success and joy from his future endeavors as he did from being a pro player |
