Created by-Dennis Rask What Is Car CampingBring supplies for 'Smores. 'Smores are an integral part of any camping trip. Simply pack graham crackers, chocolate, and marshmallows. Toast the marshmallows, then make it the filling to a graham cracker/chocolate sandwich. When you have a 'Smore, you will want 'some more'--bring enough for everyone to have at least two of them! Camping is definitely a fun time, but there might also be uninvited guests at your campsite. Who are these guests? Bugs! This is their environment and they like camping, too. Make sure you have bugged repellent with you to tell them to stay at their own campsite or to go visit other campers who weren't quite as prepared as you were. When Does Camping Season StartBefore you leave on your trip, use your backyard to help you work out the kinks in your camping equipment. Put up your tent to make sure you know (or remember!) how to put it up. This will also allow you to see if anything needs to be patched up. It will make it that much easier for you when you get to the campsite. Make sure you are aware of what hospitals are close to your campsite and how to get to them. While you don't want to think about anything bad happening on your trip, it is a possibility. Certain injuries will necessitate a visit to the doctor, so it is best to know where to go before something happens, and you are in panic mode. Where Can I Sell My Camping GearTalk with your children about the dangers associated with camping before you leave home. Use the Internet to teach them about things like poison ivy and the like, and ensure that they will approach nature with respect and caution. Remember, when you are camping you will not have access to many kitchen luxuries. At most, you will have a can opener as well as a basic burner. This means canned foods make a great meal, but even better are things that need very little preparation, like peanut butter sandwiches. If a pet accompanies you to the campground, do not just let him or her run free. Some people are afraid of dogs. You must respect other campers. Also, dogs have the potential to wreck your campsite, or that of someone else, if they are allowed to run loose. If you haven't camped before, then now is not the time to start being a hermit. Ask an experienced friend to go with you and show you the ropes. As you become more advanced in the hobby you can start to take small and then larger trips alone and get your hermitude on. Duct tape can be a camper's very best friend. When disaster strikes on a camping trip, a roll of heavy-duty duct tape will usually save the day. If the tent fabric needs patching in the rain, duct tape will hold back the water. When tent poles need reinforcing, the duct tape will provide support. Do you have holes in your tennis shoes? Duct tape right over it. Whatever the mishap, a roll of duct tape is sure to help! Ensure that you clean your campsite up whenever you finish using it. Pick up any piece of trash you can find. This is just common courtesy for the people who will be using it whenever you finish. You would want and expect the same thing in return from other people. If you have never been camping before, then be sure to bring extra of everything. This is most important for things like food and drinks. Since you are inexperienced you may underestimate how much food you actually need. Remember, you will probably be very active, and therefore need more food than normal. Make sure that you pack strategically and efficiently when you go on a camping trip. Create a list of necessary supplies and check each one off as they are packed. This is very helpful if you'll be far from civilization. Always take a map with you, and make sure you know how to read the map and a compass before you go. Even if you've already been to your future campsite, getting lost once there is still a possibility since many areas of the site will look the same. You will be able to avoid possible tragedy when you learn how to use both of these life saving items. Keep safety in mind on your camping trip. Keep a well-stocked first-aid kit along with the traditional bandaging supplies and antibiotic ointment. But throw into the mix some antihistamine for bug bites and bee stings, pain reliever, hand sanitizer and any other items that could come in handy in the outdoors. To end, you should keep the advice and tips here in mind when you are out and about on your camping trip. No one wants to come home from a trip due to being frustrated because they were not aware of what they needed to know beforehand. Good luck and have fun! ![]() |
