In our lifestyle we may have come across products packed in shrink wrapping often times. It has been thought to be a powerful way for storing and transporting the merchandise without getting damaged. Usually the shrink wrapping is used to shield fragile items like glasses, DVDs, CDs, tapes, software boxes, food products, soaps etc. Shrink wrapping is an easy method in which the shrink wrap film is heated to form a protective seal in the product. The shrink wrapping film will be usually manufactured from PVC or polyolefin.
The shrink wrapping strategy is same for many products irrespective of size and brittleness. The process is so simple it can easily be easily carried out in DIY (do-it-yourself) procedure. Some artists do shrink wrapping to safeguard their paintings from dust also to give it a specialist look. For casual wrappings, you will get the shrink wrap film from retailers and also heat it by way of hair dryer. But if there many products being wrapped, it will be easier to select shrink wrapping machines.
Different varieties of shrink wrapping equipments can be found that will assist you to perform wrapping process at home or at office. The machines would vary in sizes and function so you will have to find the best fitting ones depending on the amount and type of your respective wrapping. Some machines are designed to wrap small such things as CDs and DVDs while other machines are widely-used to pack large boxes. They would vary within the speed of packing. Some of them can be made to wrap only some components of an hour but some types can pack hundreds in one hour. The larger machines are often permanently installed but small machines will be portable.
In earlier days, the shrink wrapping were only useful for industrial purposes and generally required plenty of manual labor to operate it. But with the arrival of technology, small wrapping machines can be found for small industries. Commonly two varieties of machines are widely-used inside the wrapping process; the L-bar as well as the I-bar machines. For Clear plastic packaging and medium volume of wrapping, I-bar machines are best suited. They use an individual bar for sealing. The bar can be used to minimize the specified wrapping film which is heated using heat gun. In turn the film would shrink and seal them. CDs, DVDs and videotapes are wrapped using this kind of machines and only a few items can be processed in a single hour.
For massive wrapping process, L-bar shrink wrappers are usually used. In this type, the sealer bar can be inside the shape of English alphabet 'L'. In just one pass, the bar cuts the necessary volume of film. Further, the film is heated by using heat gun or heat tunnel and it is created to shrink onto the product. For fast shrinking, heat tunnel works more effectively than heat gun. Many L-bar machines would've built-in heat tunnel system. The shrink wrap films also differ thick, flexibility, clarity as well as the melt temperature with the film. Polyolefin films are most suited for automated machines and contains high clarity. But the PVC films tend to be more tear resistant.
