A Haven of Peace on Morocco's Atlantic Coast

Oualidia is the perfect place for a relaxing vacation by the Atlantic sea, a true haven of peace and tranquillity. This lovely little coastal village is also a famous spa whose beaches are very popular due to their beauty, their crystalline water, their fine sand, and their stillness, mostly due to the presence of a tiny peninsula that attenuates the force of the waves.

The town takes its name from Sultan El Oualid, last Sultan of the Saadi dynasty, whose magnificent tombs can be found in the Kasbah of Marrakech. Oualidia also had its own Kasbah, which was built in 1634 and the remains of which can be found in the highest quarters of the city.

The town's main road leads all the way to the beach and is lined with restaurants and shops. In these restaurants, visitors will have a unique opportunity to savour the town's celebrated oysters, bred in local oyster beds and distributed in the country's main markets. Oualidia is also famous for its fish and seafood, including its delicious spider crabs and sea urchins, which will be offered to you by fishermen along the beach.

Oualidia's main resources are fishing, oyster farming and tourism, especially thanks to its geographical location, between the sea and the lagoon. Its emplacement also makes it a fantastic place for surfing and windsurfing, as well as a perfect bird watching site where pink flamingos, seagulls, sparrowhawks, avocets, cormorants, ducks, egrets, dunlins, and other wading birds can often be seen.

Outside Oualidia, to the South, the landscape offers excellent walks and boat expeditions to beautiful small sandy coves and rocky cliffs, as well as a fabulous coast from El Jadida to the north to Safi to the south spotted with lovely, mysterious islets.

Oualidia is thus the perfect destination for a quiet, tranquil break from Morocco's bustling cities. Located just two hours from Casablanca and Marrakech, Oualidia is a haven of peace and a beautiful, tranquil beach resort.

Hotels in Oualidia are numerous, inexpensive, and very charming.

In fact, Oualidia accommodation is popular for its great services, its hospitality and its warm welcoming. Come to Oualidia and enjoy a fantastic holiday by the sea in a lovely little coastal village.
