As part of this research study, we started the advancement of a simulatorof the feller-buncher device, its immediate environment and interactionbetween machine and environment.


This subject is inspired by the requirement for havinga 'digital twin' of the system, that is a high-fidelity simulator thatcan be used for visualization, advancement and evaluation of brand-new control andmotion planning techniques for automating aspects of tree cutting operations. The simulator under development is housed in the Vortex Dynamics software application andat present, it consists of the model of the maker itself, joystick to drivethe machine and standard environment modeling.
