Many recent reports show disturbing stats regarding crimes against women on college campuses. Following are some facts that may enlighten you.

On average, at least 50% of college sexual assaults are associated with alcohol use.

84% of rape victims knew their attacker.
57% of rapes occur on dates.

In order for college women to be safe, they must first assume responsibility for their personal safety. Women in college must exercise safety awareness at all times. Young women on campus must be alert and constantly be aware of their surroundings. They should practice being safe while walking or biking to and from class and even while driving or riding the course, walking alone at night or in unfamiliar areas should be avoided at all times. There is power in numbers so girls should always travel in groups. Following one's gut is often under estimated, but if something doesn't seem right, it is a good idea to leave.
If you are a female college student and choose to drink alcohol, you should drink moderately. Be sure to get your own drinks or monitor who is getting your drinks. Guard your drink at all times to avoid the possibility of some idiot with ill intentions dropping a drug into your drink. If someone gives you a drink without you witnessing where it came from, don't be afraid to pour it out. If you are too embarrassed to question the situation simply excuse yourself to the ladies room with a friend and discard the drink. It's better to be safe than sorry. Finally, never allow yourself to drink to a point where you are out of control. Don't find yourself alone with someone you don't know well.
Safety awareness should be practiced at your residence as well. Doors and windows should remain locked at all times and never opened to strangers. Use portable door alarms and motion sensors when possible. Keep exteriors well lit and don't let shrubbery grow over doors and windows. Be alert when entering or leaving your residence and vehicle.
In addition to safety awareness, college women can reduce their risks even further by arming themselves with self defense and personal safety products. There are Beauty treats lip scrub that are perfect for college girls such as keychain mace, lipstick pepper spray, mini stun guns and personal alarms. These are all non-lethal products that can delay or take down an attacker giving a potential victim the moments they may need to escape and get help.
Violence against women on campus can be reduced by spreading safety awareness throughout the female population.
