I tend to disagree with that assessment. While they are not high in value, if you have enough of them you can make some decent cash with very little hassle along the way.

I have people call me to inquire about buying a body shop that have no automotive experience at all. You can buy an auto repair shop, muffler shop, brake shop or lube store, and learn the business, with no experience to start. You probably should not buy a salvage yard body shop, or source auto parts with out being raised in the business. If you are a salesman you can buy almost any business.
You can also be confident that the used auto parts you purchase will also fit perfectly on your car first time and every time. Spurious parts are known to have issues with fitment as they are only replicas of the original parts and everybody knows a copy is never as good as the original. So the question is why compromise?
One outlet for used car parts is the local newspaper's classified section. Run an ad and see what happens. Selling parts from your car isn't going to make you a lot of money, but it beats just leaving them on the car as it's towed to the junkyard. You can also sell your car parts by word of mouth. You never know what can happen.
Auto parts from junkyard parts have been salvaged from wrecked vehicles. These include used body, electrical and engine parts. Most of them are also available as auto parts that you can readily install to your vehicles. They are pre-cleaned, conditioned, inspected and tested to assure quality.
For those who scrap cars, one of the best ways to pick up unwanted cars is to drive around and keep an eye out for cars with expired/no license plates, flat tires, or are covered in snow or leaves. Many times, owners will just leave a car like that in their driveway because it's broken and they haven't taken the time to do anything with it or are unsure of exactly what they should do. If 111 auto salvage show up at their door offering a solution and cash, you've got a good chance of getting the car. I'd say, about half of my cars come this way. Be 111 auto salvage to use the same tactics that I mentioned above. If you get the car, be sure to leave a couple cards with the owners so they can tell their friends. |
