You aren't actually browsing and up unless you're able to popup and stand on the board whenever it is on a tide. The action of popping up is still a very scary endeavor at first, yet it's the key to surfing success. Getting the hang of this vital surfing movement is in fact just a matter of practice. Practice, practice, practice. Most beginners find that owning a pop-up in the beach helps exceptionally before attempting it from the drinking water. Learning this skill is really very good exercise and builds strength and muscle.

Whenever you're starting out, it is a great idea to practice popping through to a surface that is flat and stable. Anything like beach sand or grass will do. Your livingroom floor works great with this! Start with your tummy on a lawn. Then, just like a push-up, push your arms and chest upward, maintaining your tummy button pressed near the floor. One minute then movement, flex your knees along with your arms and then jump up to a crouching position together with your foot slightly further back. During this movement, focus on your balance.
