Congratulations on the win, how is the team enjoying Berlin?

Dapr: Thank you. You know, it’s been fun. I’ve been scootering around the city. There’s these projections on a lot of the buildings near our hotel, so I’ve been going there every night. Yeah, it’s been enjoyable.

You guys are no stranger to playing on LAN and big stages at this point. What has the team morale and energy been like going into this first match?

Dapr: Yeah, we’ve played a lot of LAN matches. I think we’ve played the most rounds on LAN, maybe excluding Fnatic. We try to keep the vibe light and try to have fun. We always try to make jokes, like during that game on Icebox. I wasn’t playing well at all but I just tried to keep the vibe up and the energy high. I think it paid off at the end, nobody got mad that we lost and we closed it out obviously.

Obviously Sentinels have been considered the best team in the World ever since winning at Masters Reykjavik, but do you think that team has improved or progressed in any way since the last Masters event?

Dapr: Yeah, actually during these scrims in Europe, we didn’t have that many practice days. Obviously we would have preferred more, but the four days that we had, maybe three, we improved on a lot in my opinion. We changed and discussed a whole bunch of stuff that we haven’t implemented yet but I think we’re heading in the right direction. Nothing has gone south for us at least.

Your group saw some big changes as BREN was unable to make it to Berlin and your group turned into a double round-robin. Did this change Sentinels preparation at all going into the group stage?

Dapr: It didn’t change preparations for me much. If anything it just worries us because we are guaranteed four best-of-threes when other teams may just get by with two. I feel like, in my head, I’m worried that we’ll show a lot of strategies that maybe we shouldn’t at the group stage just because we’re playing so much more. I think that’s my only worry but it didn’t really change our practice that much.

G2 aren’t the first seed from EMEA, but they seemed quite hyped going into Masters Berlin. What are your opinions on the strength of your group?

Dapr: I think that G2 is pretty good. Obviously we got the best of them today, but who knows they might take the next Bo3. As for F4Q, they seemed pretty strong. I was watching G2 play against and think they’re both pretty good teams. We can’t really sleep on either of them, so we’re going to do our prep work for F4Q and hopefully find the same result as we did today.

Going into the games, you guys rolled through map one pretty hard. How was this game from your perspective?

Dapr: It had a lot to do with our attacker side A control, that was a focus for us. I think we did it pretty well. I think we had them guessing where we were going and we didn’t give them much control at A site, which I think the better Split teams are doing. I’d probably just point at that and aggressive splitting when we get info. Like, whenever we saw three going A we instantly split B, so I think that was pretty good. Our attacker side split was pretty good.

Traditionally, you’re one of the most notorious Cypher players but could you tell me about the Viper and Sova picks that you were flexing today?

Dapr: Yeah, this was what I was talking about with the first scrim days. We’ve learned that Viper is pretty good at the attacker side because it’s almost like having two Cypher cages but you get to set them up and they last longer. It’s more pressure on the A player on the defender side. It was giving us troubles in scrims on our defender side so I figured I’d try it out. I felt like it would be the best experience to play it on LAN. If anything, this wasn’t a practice match because obviously I took it seriously, but 메이저안전놀이터
I definitely just tried it to see if it was good or not and I think it ended up being pretty good.

Going into the next map, Icebox, it was G2’s pick but did they surprise you with your pretty hot start?

Dapr: I don’t think that they surprised us. They’re really capable, skilled players but I think it was more of us starting really slow. Personally, I didn’t really get into that map, so I feel like that was a big part of it. There were probably like three instances in that game where I said “alright guys, write that one off I just hard whiffed on that round.”

You guys managed to stage somewhat of a comeback near the end, but what stopped Sentinels from sustaining this momentum and turning it into a 2-0 win?

Dapr: We have a bad habit of goofing off when we’ve played a lot of rounds. I think we just do too much or do too little and just have fun with it. You know, it’s definitely like a bad thing but it’s not the worst problem you could have because we almost always end up closing it. We just end up making it closer than it should be. I’m not worried as long as everyone is having fun and no one is getting emotionally tilted.

Yeah, that goes back to what you were saying about keeping morale high.

Dapr: Yeah, that’s really important to me, personally. I think everybody performs better when we’re creating a good atmosphere.

Going into the last game, from the viewer perspective it feels like Haven is one of Sentinel’s most comfortable maps. Was there any pressure going into this final map?

Dapr: No, we definitely felt best going into Haven. I was doing a BM where I was like opening a book, which perfectly summarized their attacker side because we were reading them throughout the whole map. It’s definitely a comfortable map but we also had really good reads on them.

You guys are in the pretty early phases of the group stages right now, but are you guys thinking ahead to the playoffs already?

Dapr: No, I take it match by match, especially when these teams aren’t bad. For teams like G2, when you beat them once, they’re going to come back and learn to come back harder the next time. We have to keep focused on making it out and then we’ll focus on playoffs later.

Thanks for the interview, dapr! Best of luck during the rest of the tournament!
