Seven Humorous Red Warning Flags on Online Dating Profiles
Negotiating online dating profiles can be overwhelming, especially when you hear stories about people lying about everything from their age to their to marital status. Here are some humorous "red flags" that signal a warning that this person is not a match for you.
1. In his profile he states his age at sixty, but he is interested in women from "25 to 55". This sixty year old also checks that he "wants children".
Red Flag: If you are forty plus and still want to bear children, go for it. But if your age is closer to fifty-five than to twenty-five, I wouldn't waste your time on this guy. He may be interested in fertile women but my guess is that he is most interested in younger women. I know men who openly admit that they check "want children" or "not sure" in order to not "turn-off" a young women who dreams of kids.
2. Her relationship status on her profile states " It's complicated".
Red Flag: Someone unable to pick a definitive current relationship status is not a solid candidate for a good, long term relationship. I'd guess she's married or newly separated or in a flagging relationship, and that is very complicated.
3. In his profile he states that he owns a "internashonel sukesfil cmpewter compeny" and under education he claims to have a "PhD in worlld ekomicks"
Red Flag: If he can't pass a sixth grade spelling test, probably doesn't have a PhD. If he isn't honest about this, he may also be lying about his company. https://elveschasm.com/ People aren't always honest about work. Be certain to watch for inconsistencies.
4. Regarding children, her profile states she has "more than three live at home" and she lists her children's ages as 19,21,24, and 29.
Red Flag: A relationship with this woman will be crowded.
5. In his profile he claims to be fifty-one. He looks about fifty-one in his family picture where he poses with his teenage daughter and son. Observing closer, you realize his son has a mullet hairstyle and his daughter is wearing a Back Street Boys t-shirt.
Red Flag: Mullet hair cuts and the Back Street Boys were popular in the 1980's and early 1990's. This picture is about twenty years old. Today this man may be in his seventies. Both men and women post pictures that don't reflect how they currently look. The worst I've heard was of a mother who posted her daughter's picture, trying to pass it off as her own. Creepy and stupid. If the point is eventually meet in person, how could this ever work?
6. His has chosen a profile name such as:luvjckdaniels, fiberguy, shakeywurm (actual profile names)
Red Flag:A profile name is an introduction to his best self. Enough said.
7. She has chosen a profile name such as: nomorejerks or bigbbs.
Red Flag: Tacky. Enough said.
Keep your wits about you when reading online profiles. Do not give out telephone numbers until you have had time to exchange a few emails. Look for inconsistencies and trust your intuition. If something doesn't seem legitimate, it probably isn't. There are some untruthful people but there are also some really wonderful people out there too. You have the power to sort them out at the door!
