Once you become a leader, do not make the mistake of believing your job is done. While you may have won the first part of the battle, there is a lot more to come. You have to work hard every day to show people that you deserve to be where you are.

Learn how to communicate well in writing. Leadership is more than just attitude and foresight. Your words play a major role in your presentation. If you write sloppily, with poor grammar and misspellings, then it'll be hard for your employees or partners to take you seriously as a leader. Take the time to read what you send to other before you press the submit button or sending something through the mail.

Even if you're not a tremendous speaker, that doesn't mean you can't be a good leader. Communicating effectively can overcome lack of oratory skills. Let all your team members know what is expected of them and how they contribute to the organization. Communicate success stories and be precise when providing critical remarks.

Good leaders must finish the job. You hear many leaders brag about their projects, but many haven't actually finished them. Those that don't genuinely finish can lose the confidence of their clients. You must set goals and see your tasks through to completion. Remember that nothing is entirely useful until it's finished.

Even when things do not seem to be going very well, a good leader is able to see the positive side of things. While there may be a lot of issues that make something negative, he or she will always be able to find something good in every single situation.

As a leader, or manager, your team is your greatest asset. And, they know the business better than anyone. Try carrying a journal, or notebook with you at all times. Use it to write down any information, ideas and problems you hear from the team. Then, each week, go over your notes, and see what you can do to implement good ideas, and solve any problems you may have encountered.

To be a great leader in business, you must communicate well with your employees. Take the time to listen to what they have to say, and always value their opinions. By letting them know that they are being heard, you will gain their respect and trust. This goes a long way toward promoting yourself as a leader of any organization.

If you work in an industry that requires you to take risks, allow you employees the opportunity to take those necessary risks with confidence. Those risks will not always pay off so you need to make a plan for evaluating various risk factors. Stand behind your employee's decision and never berate them for risks that didn't pay off.

Delegate responsibilities whenever possible. Showing trust in your employees gives them confidence in their own abilities. It will also inspire confidence in your ability to lead.
