Introduction Highly respected art critic, writer, plus a well-known documentary maker Robert Hughes was given birth to on July 28, 1938 in Sydney, Australia. He is the son of Geoffrey Forrest Hughes and Margaret Eyre Sealy. His father and grandfather both were reputed lawyers. Hughes comes with an older brother Tom Hughes that is and a lawyer and possesses been the first kind Attorney General of Australia. Robert Hughes lost his father to carcinoma of the lung on the young age of 12. He finished his college studies from St Ignatius in Riverview and then visited the University of Sydney to review arts and architecture. At the time, he joined a progressive sub cultural group 'Sydney Push' that consisted of intellectual artist, writers, and drinkers. Around 1961, Hughes dabbled with poetry and painting, but was hugely criticized for his not enough originality.
Professional Life Robert Hughes left university being an art form critic for Sydney periodical 'The Observer.' He also caused newspapers, like 'The Sunday Mirror' and 'The Nation' being a cartoonist initially after which a critic. In Aboriginal art online , he left Australia and gone to live in Italy. A year later, he settled in London. He began with writing for 'The Spectator,' 'The Daily Telegraph,' and 'The Observer.' In 1970, he received a package from 'TIME' magazine and gone after New York. This position brought him great recognition as an art form critic. Hughes lent his voice for the narration inside film 'Protected' in 1975, that has been in line with the life of Indigenous Australian on Palm Island. Personal Life While in London, Hughes married Danne Patricia Emerson in 1967. Later that year she gave birth to their son Danton. The marriage however failed to go far and so they were divorced with the end of 1981. Soon, Hughes married Victoria Whistler. Unfortunately, that marriage too resulted in 1996. Robert Hughes saw a few unfortunate incidences inside the last 20 years. He had a significant nervous breakdown in 1997. In 1999, while filming to get a documentary in Australia he previously a fatal road accident. The collision left him badly injured as well as coma for any few weeks. He was fined for irresponsible driving and was even banned from driving for three years. Tragedy struck in 2001 when his son Danton committed suicide in the young age of 33. His death tremendously distressed the art critic.
Robert Hughes last wrote an interesting memoir in 2006 titled 'Things I didn't Know.' These days he stays in New York regarding his wife of 10 years, artist Doris Downes and continues to write for TIME magazine occasionally.
