Before going camping for the first time, make sure you have done some research on tents, food and wildlife survival. It can make the difference between a great trip and a dangerous one. If you're new to camping, you're going to want to arrive early to the campground. The reason for this is you will be new to the campground site and rules, and this will slow you down. You don't want to be stuck setting up camp after dark, so just arrive a little earlier than you usually would. As you become more advanced in the hobby you can start to take small and then larger trips alone and get your hermitude on. It's critical that you take along the right things with you when you go camping. Even just a handful of things missing can really affect your camping experience. Take the time to create a list that can be checked off while you pack. Some important things to put on the list are your tent, tarp, water, food, fire-starters, soap and sleeping bag. How To Shower While CampingCome prepared before you go camping. Sometimes camping trips don't follow your plan. Weather can change, situations can arise, injuries or illness can strike. You should not be careless, take unnecessary risks, or perform any action without considering the consequences. Bring your cellphone with you when you go camping. Even if you are serious about roughing it, cell phones are still very useful in emergencies and should not be left at home. A cell phone is no longer a hobby, and when you go camping it can help you reach police and emergency personnel--bring it. Take along a fire extinguisher! You never know when a fire can spread. Being prepared to put it out quickly could save your life, your gear and the woods around you. Find one that is capable of putting out fires of all kinds to be sure you are prepared to extinguish them all. It is perfectly normal to set a budget for your overall camping trip. Sit down and make a plan of what you must spend on your entire trip. Make sure you factor in the campground costs, gasoline prices as well as food and any other materials you will need to purchase. This will ensure that you don't spend more than you have on your trip. Bring toilet paper along when you travel. You may be camping in an area that doesn't offer toilets, so you will need to find other places to go to the bathroom. Avoid using leaves to wipe, as you may not be able to recognize poisonous plants such as poison ivy. Prior to going camping, be sure to create a list of what you'll need. This is imperative when there is travel involved during your camping trip. Get prepared well ahead of schedule; at least one day, maybe two, is required to gather all the "forgotten" items you would regret not having in the wild. Duct tape can be a camper's very best friend. When disaster strikes on a camping trip, a roll of heavy-duty duct tape will usually save the day. If the tent fabric needs patching in the rain, duct tape will hold back the water. When tent poles need reinforcing, the duct tape will provide support. Do you have holes in your tennis shoes? Duct tape right over it. Whatever the mishap, a roll of duct tape is sure to help! Make sure your cell phone is fully charged before leaving your car or campsite. Even better, tote an extra battery in case your first one dies. Your cell phone makes for excellent emergency equipment, so you must ensure it does not die. Use an old shower curtain as a camping tarp. The next time you switch out your shower curtain, save the old one and you can use it when you go camping. Tarps, or old shower curtains can be used for many things. You can put it under your tent or use it to keep you dry should it rain. Make sure that you take into consideration all safety precautions while camping. This includes avoiding interaction with any wildlife. That cute little squirrel may not be the friendly cute companion that it seems to be. This should not have to be said, but never feed any bears you see. Wrap up your fishing gear, like line and lures, in plain old aluminum foil! This will keep everything from tangling up and if you do it properly, water proofed as well. Foil will also prevent rust from ruining your valuable fishing gear, so make it part of your camping trip every time. As you can now tell, camping has a great deal more to offer than a tent and a night in the woods. There are certain safety precautions one must take in order to stay safe and enjoy the day.
