My story isn't very large. I was born in the United States I went to college as a worker, then was offered my first online job. But, it also includes certain traumatic events that made me thought that my life was over. One of those moments was when my computer at home went dark. After some tweaking, getting an entirely new desktop and moving the hard drive from one to the next, I was finally able to restore all the files stored on the drive. It took three days of sweat and tears. But, I've learned one important point: Dropbox and personal file servers can be used to automatically or manually backup my day's work.
However, it isn't the best choice. The larger your online data storage grows, the more you need to spend to keep all of it, and keep it up and running. It's quite simple and secure. Also, it's accessible, can be downloaded from any location that has internet access. What happens where WiFi or another internet connection is not available? I always keep my laptop close at hand in these situations. It acts as my last refuge from the worst. There are two drives that are connected to form a RAID stack which means they copy each other and ensure that one copy remains if 1 of the two HDDs is damaged. Because I rarely copy the contents of my laptop, I've made it so that two drives don't get disconnected at once.
My other day of great sorrow came a few weeks ago. I'm very careful not to lose the work I've done. In the same way I've now copied it numerous times and have instant access wherever the internet is accessible. This was not about Periscope. It was something I frequently used a couple of years back, and during the riots of 2020, I was able to do a few live streams. But Periscope TV suddenly closed, and all content will be gone within some weeks. What do you do? I need to download all videos and store them offline on my computer. These videos are extremely dear to my heart as they were my last time with my friend in Covid.
fgetvid
It's a site I regularly visit. It lets me download videos to Youtube, Instagram, and Facebook - the other sites that host most of my live streaming. I am a passionate participant with underground movements, politics and underground movements. I record often, save them, and then upload them to my YouTube channel. After that, whenever the live stream is finished the video is saved to my laptop. This is me. It also lets me cross-post videos to multiple platforms. This means I can not only share YouTube videos on Facebook but also upload that same video on Facebook. This will be its own video. Over the last eight years, I've got 3TB worth of live streams. Periscope will not go away.. The site truly helps me.
It's like magic. After I have viewed the video I'm looking for, I copy its URL by clicking the sharing link. Then I navigate to the site for downloading videos and paste the link to in the location they'd like to download it. hit big button and in moments I am presented with options to download video, save it to my desktop or laptop, to copy it across other platforms, and then save it for my loved ones. Periscope may not be accessible on all websites. This site is able to manage m3u8 files that other sites download for you. Then, I go to the video downloader site and copy my video's URL in the location they prefer. After that, I hit the on the big button. Video doesn't download to my computer, it's online and plays when player loads small fragment files each time.
If you aren't aware, the windows copy command can help you to place such fragments together to create a standard length video file. This is due to the video format used for creating the fragments, MpegTS, which is also known as transport stream. It contains all the data necessary for decoding video in each fragment. Each stream is started from the middle with no interruption. It also helps save information by downloading 360 x 10 second files. It only downloads streams you are currently watching. The user will get 3-4 fragments from the 25-second stretch and 1-2 following fragments for if it continues to view the stream. This reduces the total download time by only downloading 25 seconds prior to the start of the stream.
