Content by-Cole Kirk When To Switch From click here to read To Cat FoodGive your kitty lots of love. A cat's companionship should be returned with the same. Cats need a social life with people just like you do with other people. They want nothing more than to be an integral part of your family. Take your cat to the vet periodically. A lot of cat owners tend to avoid the vet because it can be harder to get a cat ready to go anywhere she does not want to go! It is also easy to avoid the vet because cats seem so self-reliant. However, it's smart to get your cat to the vet to avoid any problems. How To Store Cat FoodIf you want to have your cat for many years, it is a good idea to keep them indoors. While a cat may enjoy going outside, it is statistically proven that outdoor cats live shorter lives than indoor cats. There are dangers to a cat that spends time outside, not least of all other animals. Put the right amount of cat litter in the litter box. Some people try to get out of cleaning the box by putting too much litter in there. Cats don't like walking on sand dunes! Two inches or so should be sufficient for the cat's needs, and you just have to be vigilant about cleaning the box out. When it comes to litter boxes, placement is everything. You shouldn't keep it near your pet's food, and you shouldn't keep it in an area people walk through a lot. Also make sure the area is well ventilated to keep the smell to a minimum. Keep Reading and you will appreciate it. What To Look For In Dog FoodIf your cat has bad breath, a trip to the vet is in order. Bad breath in cats can be a red flag for tooth decay or more serious conditions. These include diabetes, stomach problems and lung disorders. So, if your cat's breath smells worse than the food he eats, get to the bottom of the issue before it gets out of control. Are you the owner of both a dog and cat? Dogs are known for eating other pet's food. This makes it a good idea to have a cat feeding place high up enough that your dog can't get to it. This also ensures that there are no squabbles over the water between the two, when the food is gone. Cats have a natural instinct to hunt small prey. This can sometimes be a problem if you have other small animals in your home. Make sure that bird cages are hanging from the ceiling. If you have a gerbil or hamster, make sure their cages are secure and up high out of your cats reach. Put the right amount of cat litter in the litter box. Your cat will pant if it is nervous or overheated but it could also be the sign of a more serious health problem. You should be speaking with a vet in case there is a respiratory issue. Make sure to provide your cats with toys. Many people consider toys a need for dogs, but they do not feel the same about cats. Cats need stimulation throughout the day to remain healthy both mentally and physically. Toys can provide this. Keep your cats from boredom by remembering this tip. Scoop your cat box several times a day. Cats prefer a very clean environment when they use the restroom, and they will often choose not to use the litter box if it is not clean. Try to scoop it every time they use it for best results, especially if your cats are picky. If you are expecting a child, this is more than enough reason for you to have your pet spayed or neutered. Some cats get very aggressive when they see little ones in the house. After having this procedure done it is less likely for your cat to do anything to harm the baby. Search for holes in your house that you don't want your cat to get into. Cats can fit through very small gaps. Kittens are especially vulnerable. Know this when bringing another cat into your home. If you find holes of any size that the cat could get through, repair them. Try to keep your cat away from the tree during the Christmas season. Cats get curious and will want to climb your tree, which can be disastrous. Keep in mind that ornaments can chewed on or eaten and this could make your cat sick or uncomfortable. If your female cat has recently given birth, be sure to check the kittens from time to time to be sure they are getting enough to eat. A cat, for one reason or another, sometimes does not produce enough milk for her kittens, endangering their health. If you notice the kittens crying often or trying to nurse frantically, take the mother to the vet to be sure she is producing sufficient milk for the kittens. The possibility of fleas are something that every cat owner needs to be aware of and prepared to fight. These parasites won't go away until you take action. Ridding your cat of fleas is not hard and prevention is even easier. Follow these guidelines, and everyone is sure to benefit. ![]() |
