Government in Cyprus is in support of Blue Flag application, which promotes clean and eco friendly beaches. This program is owned and operated by one independent and non-profit organization, known as Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE). On the foundation of implementing safety measures, service quality, environmentally friendly principles of water quality as well as sewage management, in addition to the unspoiled natural beauty of theirs, I have developed a moderate choice of 7 beaches.

Beaches listed as family friendly had been granted with Blue Flag award, while the other beaches have been selected mainly due to the impressive natural beauty of theirs.

Family friendly beaches:


1. Dhekelia Beach (Larnaca) - situated around village of Oroklini contained Larnaca district. This's among those beautiful, environmentally favorable gems that provide clean waters, sandy surroundings, safe environment (lifeguards), disabled entry, restaurants and bars and is easily accessible on foot, bike or an automobile. Added attractions are in type of water sports offered, like as: scuba diving, wind surfing, fishing etc.

2. McKenzie beach (Larnaca) - located found Larnaca municipality, the beach begins shortly as you provide Larnaca airport, unfolding in front of you as you drive in the path of the town. The beach resort is quieter version, compared to Phinikoudes beach, and that is the primary beach that fronts the promenade. McKenzie beach is famous for its white sand, shallow and clean sea. On offer are vast variety of restaurants, tavernas, water-sports services (scuba diving, surfing) with good range of small hotels and private apartments nearby.

3. Fig Tree Bay (Protaras) - grounded in Protaras District. This beach resort is called by British in remembrance of a lone, centuries old Fig Tree that develops just up grown in the Beach. This's a very well-known beach within the Protaras District, for all those who actually know about it. It wasn't sign posted from nearby roads, so search for clues indicating place of Salparo Hotel apartments and that will provide you at the beach itself. The beach provides water skiing facilities, paragliding or you can just enjoy its clean waters blending with sandy area.

4. Nissi Beach (Ayia Napa) on a tranquil Nissi Bay is an awesome sandy seashore with calm, clean, eye catching turquoise sea waters and great views. Geographically it is configured in a way that it is sheltered from the wind. Being only three kilometers away from Ayia Napa, it is a lot quieter then the town swimming pool itself.

"Nature at it's best" type of beaches:

5. Lara bay (Paphos) - located where developer's hands has not yet fully covered, on the north west coastal side of the island - on the Akamas Peninsula. Lara bay is situated on the Paphos side area, roughly 8 km from Ayios Georgios. It's accessible only by 4x4 or by hiking. This is a' nature at its best', nearly deserted sandy beach. It is one of the few remaining havens because of the green and loggerhead Turtle to nest. The beach is restricted in high summer simply because turtles are nesting. Not recommended for kids.

6. Coral Bay (Paphos) - is one of famous shorelines in Western Cyprus. Being put with the Peyia Municipality of Paphos, the shore is about 10 mins drive from Paphos. The beach features an incredible very long curved stretch of golden sand that falls in between two headlands. Calm and shallow waters offer safe swimming environment for swimmers-novices and children. For those searching for a water adventure, well equipped diving, water skiing and canoeing clubs are widely available.
