| OBJECTIVE OF HOLLYWOOD EIGHTS: The first player to earn 100 points win. NUMBER OF PLAYERS: 2-5 players NUMBER OF CARDS: Standard 52 card deck RANK OF CARDS: A (high), K, Q, J, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 TYPE OF GAME: Shedding AUDIENCE: Kids and Teens THE DEAL – HOLLYWOOD EIGHTS The dealer may be chosen at random. The cards are dealt in a clockwise direction, one card at a time, starting with the player to the left of the dealer. Each player is dealt 5 cards. The remainder of the pack is placed face-down in the middle of the table, this will be the stockpile. The dealer flips the top card of the stock over, this is the starter card. If the card is an 8 then buried within the stock and the next card is flipped. THE PLAY Starting with the player to the left of the dealer, each player must put a car on the starter card pile. Cards played, besides eights, must match the card on top of the starter pile, either in its suit or rank. For example, if the Queen of Diamonds is the starter card then you may play either a Queen or a Diamond card on top. If you are unable to play a card draw from the stockpile until you find a playable card, or until the stockpile has been exhausted. If after the stockpile has been emptied and you are still unable to play you must pass. You can also draw from the stock even if you have a playable card in hand. Eights are wild cards. They may be played on top of any card during your turn. However, if you play an 8, you must specify what suit you are playing it as so that the next player can play the specific suit or another eight. THE SCORING The first player to reach 100 points wins the game. Eight: 20 points each Ace: 15 points each Face cards: 10 points each Lower cards: Face value Create a score sheet for three games.
