How To Determine Your Wrist's Size To Find The Perfect Fit For Your Watch

The fitting of a watch can be essential. There are many situations one could run into in the event that your watch's band doesn't fit properly around your wrist. Imagine that you're attending an elegant party. You're wearing a custom fit suit, however your watch band is large hiding your beautiful, luxury timepiece under the french cuff. Perhaps you've got your sights set on your weekend getaway for a group of guys, trekking through the Moab desert and camping on a rock face when your watch gets stuck on a rock while climbing down a cliff, an elongated spring pin is broken and you are watching your favourite field watch drop to the ground. In a normal situation how do you know do you do if your Seiko YachtMaster mod isn't fitting properly and cutting off circulation to your hand during a critical board meeting, and you are fidgeting all the time appearing unprofessional.

These scenarios might seem extreme, but they are grounded in reality. You need to make sure that the investment you have made in timepieces is secure so that it can withstand time.

It is crucial to ensure your watch bands fit your wrist in a proper way. This will help you keep your watch looking great and last for a long time. It is incredibly easy to take a measurement of your wrist to ensure you are wearing the right fitting for any kind of band and for any circumstance that you may be in, be it style, practicality, or adventure. If you're interested, we offer Seiko YachtMaster mod for sale.

Measuring Prep

In this simple DIY project, you'll need to measure your wrist as the baseline so you can determine your wrist's size for each of the three variations of straps. We'll show you how each strap fit differently and why they aren't the same.

There are three main kinds of straps or bands:

Metal Bracelet

NATO Strap

Leather Strap

The most efficient method of determining the size of your wrist is to use an elastic measuring tape called seamstress or a tailor's measuring tape. They can be found in a majority of big-box stores, and on the internet. If you don't have access to a tailor's tape, the best method to make your own is using a narrow piece of paper, or a string and a standard ruler. Watch strap measurements are generally given in millimeters. We will therefore utilize the centimeter-end of our ruler or measuring tape to determine the length of our straps for watches.

Wrist Size to Size of Watch Band

Once you have determined the size of your wrist, you can translate it to your Seiko YachtMaster mod-sized) band. I've selected the three primary different types of watch bands, as these bands are each crafted with different tightness in the mind.

Metal Bracelet or Band

Metal bands are flexible and wear much looser than other bands. Jack Mason offers a broad selection of metal bands. Take a look at the entire collection of metal bracelet watches. One rule to ensure you have enough flexibility with your metal bracelet is to make sure the watch face and the bracelet are one centimeter bigger than your wrist.

You can take this measurement of a watch and metal bracelet that you already have by wrapping the measuring tape in a similar way to how you measured your wrist, and then inside the band that is closed. This will give you an exact measurement of the metal bracelet. You'll know if you need to adjust the link to ensure maximum comfort.
