Nothing disrupts a peaceful home environment like a pest infestation. There are many different pests that might invade your home. For example, pests can be a fly, ant, mouse, or even a raccoon. They can even sometimes cause damage to your house. This advice includes ways to rid yourself of these pests for good.
Do not expect to get rid of pests by keeping your home clean. It is a myth that you can starve out pests. Many pests can eat things that you would not consider food, like paper or glue. The only way to get rid of pests is to address the problem directly.
Having mice in your home can be a real turn off, not mentioning they carry diseases. In order to exterminate mice in a family-friendly way, use disposable mouse traps. Line the mouse traps with peanut butter to attract mice. After the mouse takes the bait, the mouse trap should slam shut, and you can safely dispose.
Ask your exterminator what the risks of using their pesticides are. Everything comes with some level of risk, and some chemicals can be very dangerous for children or pets. If your exterminator is unsure you should find out before you let them proceed. It is definitely better to be safe than sorry.
Are you able to see through the bottom of your home's doors? If so, this means pests have an easy way to enter your home. In order to eliminate this issue, you need to fix the height of the door. You could also just add a weather strip seal to your doors.
Electronic pest repellents are very efficient products. These tiny devices plug into room outlets where they emit a sound that chases rodents away. This quiet sound that irritates rodents is not harmful to pets or people. Rodents dislike the noise a lot, and won't stay near it.
Put your pet's food and water away at night. Pet food is a great meal for most insects and rodents. Having water next to it will only give them something to wet their mouth with. Putting the food and water away will not get rid of the pests, but it will at least reduce where they can get food from.
Do you have ants in your home? Get rid of these insects by mixing some borax and sugar. Pour this concoction on your doorstep and all around your home. If you know where the ants come from, pour a generous quantity of borax and sugar in these areas. The ants will be drawn by the sugar but the borax will kill them.
Avoid using wood chips and straw around the outside of your house when doing gardening or other outdoor hobbies/activities. Make sure that all of your windows are closed when you go to sleep at night or go on vacation. The last thing that you will want to do is to give the bugs outside a free entryway into your house. Seal all windows when you are sleeping or not home to reduce pests.
Talk to friends and family about what has worked for them. You might be at your wits' end when you are dealing with pests. That's when you need to take a step back and find out what has worked for other people. Your friends and family may be able to step in and help you come up with a better plan.
Fight your fight against wasp nests and beehives at night. To rid your home of beehives, spray a foam wasp and bee insecticide. You can kill bees using foam from the hardware store. If at all possible, spray the hive in the evening hours when bees are inactive, then repeat as needed on subsequent nights. After you're completely sure that all the bees have died, you can remove the hive.
Know where all mice bait station are place so you can regularly inspect them. Dogs cannot get near the bait stations. The poison present in these stations can make your pet extremely sick. If enough poison is ingested, it could even kill it!
Eliminate wasp nests or bee hives during nighttime. Spray foams that can be purchased at a hardware store can be used to get rid of such insects. These foams can be sprayed a long way and can kill off bees from far away. Ideally, the hive should be sprayed at nighttime since bees are less active then. After spraying, watch the hive for a few days and repeat the spraying if needed. The hive can safely be removed once you are certain that there are no more bees alive.
Now you should see just how easily you can reclaim your home from those pests. It is not going to cost you nearly what it would to pay someone to come out and set a few traps. Set your own traps and capture your own pests without paying for it for the next month.
