If you know where the ants come from, pour a generous quantity of borax and sugar in these areas. The ants will be drawn by the sugar but the borax will kill them.

Remember that as much as your houseplants might bring life to your home, some of that life might be pests. If you suspect that they are infested with aphids, spray your houseplants regularly with a solution of soap and water. That should be enough to manage the pest problem without exposing your plants and home to insecticides.

If you see lots of flying bugs, plant some marigolds. Marigolds help keep the flying insects away from your home. In fact, there are a number of types of flowers that will repel insects naturally. Get some citronella plants or some mosquito plants for your garden.

What's more, there are no annoying smells or dangerous chemicals to deal with.
