My next visit to the Pearson Airport in Vancouver, WA yielded a surprise: the wind had shifted, and the planes were taking off and landing from the west. I had to adjust what I was doing, but the advantage was that I got more of a front-on view of planes taking off!
I tried a lot of different settings on this shoot. One of the things I wanted to check out is whether my camera, the 1D Mk III, would do a good job of auto-focusing in AI-Servo mode. When I used a high shutter speed, yes -- camera jiggle negated, the vast majority of my shots were good!
Once, though, I switched to slower speeds, such as 1/200, 1/250, and 1/60, well, it was very hit-or-miss at 400mm -- I could see the jiggle in my viewfinder all the time.
